Tobacco-Thousands of Poisons; Alcohol, only one, but Deadly
Smoking, the Deadliest Habit Smoking is the deadliest of bad habits (except perhaps for Russian Roulette, but most people don't do that for long!). I'll expand significantly later, but for now, here's a useful information link: Visit The American Lung Association Or, more directly here's the link to their tobacco related web page: American Lung Association-Tobacco Link.
Alcohol, The Cellular Poison Alcohol drinking, similarly to smoking, puts a huge stress on each and every cell in your body, saturating it with a deadly poison. If you don't think alcohol is a deadly poison to your cells, try this experiment: Go to your local liquor store and buy some 151 proof rum. Go home and pour yourself a big shot and pour it into your mouth. Now, DON'T SWALLOW ! See how long you can sit there without swallowing or spitting it out, and within a few seconds you will feel it burning all the delicate cells in the mucous membranes lining your mouth. If you swallow you will feel it burning all the way down to your stomach where you will finally be partially insulated against it's firey effects by the thick mucous lining in the stomach. Remember, however, that all your digestive system is made of these delicate cells and the damage is not nearly done yet. Personally, I strongly suggest you spit it out, not swallow, as this poison will, despite becoming diluted, continue to be a poison and will damage many more cells as it diffuses throughout your body tissues.
It is estimated that each time you get (or got) drunk you kill off another 100,000 brain cells. Wouldn't you like to quit killing them off now? Here's a helpful site: National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency.
