To Live Long You Must Recognize Lies Spread in Society by Monied Interests
Probably the biggest lie after "tobacco is not addictive" perpetuated on society is: "Milk builds strong bones." In a prior search of the scientific literature, I found 6 articles about the use of dairy and osteoporosis. (porosis: weak bones with holes in them) Of the 6 articles, 5 clearly showed that the more dairy one ate and drank, the more likely one was to have hip and wrist fractures after a fall ! One of these articles was based on a study of tens of thousands of women, not based on a study of only 11 people, as was one of the studies referred to by the dairy industry in their ads. The preponderance of the evidence in current scientific literature is that it is likely that 50% of all heart attacks and strokes are caused by dairy products, and half or more of these are caused by cheese alone.
Personal Experience: My wife and I both quit dairy products about 14 years ago for other reasons than those above, but after a year or so we both discovered we had developed much healthier bodies than we'd had before. First of all, my wife discovered her cholesterol had dropped from an unsafe level above 200, down to a much safer level in the 130's to 140's. Then she discovered that she had permanently lost her sinus infections which had occured seasonally. Then I discovered (while in medical school) that my unhealthy blood pressure of 140 to 145 over 90 to 95 had plummeted to only 105/70 ! ! It should be noted that many insurance companies rate your risk of dying based largely on your systolic blood pressure (the high number) this means I may have added 10 years or more to my life by stopping the use of milk, cheese, butter, ice cream etc.

"Osteoporosis is caused by a number of things, one of the most important being too much dietary protein" Science, 1986; 233 (Science magazine is the premier scientific magazine in America, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science) "women consuming greater amounts of calcium from dairy foods had significantly increased risks of hip fractures."
